Just One Card Short

I haven't posted to the blog in a while, not because I didn't want to, I just didn't have much to say. I still have some autograph cards that I need to get out on the blog, as well as my autograph baseballs and the pocket schedules that are on their way to my house. But I've just been too busy lately tracking down a set. For the past couple of months I've been buying singles of the 2011 Leaf Pete Rose Legacy set in hopes of gathering all 60 cards. Boxes go for around $60 online and only come with 5 base cards and a guaranteed autograph. Needless to say, I wasn't about to spend a minimum of $720 in hopes of building this set by busting wax and pray that I don't have any doubles. Most of the cards I purchased for a dollar or two which made it much more bearable on the wallet. It doesn't help that cards #1 and #60 are considered short prints and go for a hefty sum. Regardless, I picked up three more cards today and my total for the set now sits at 59 of 60. Unfortunately, card #40 is nowhere to be found on any of the stores I buy from online (sportlots, comc, beckett marketplace, amazon, ebay). So it looks like I'll just have to be patient and keep my eyes open for one to eventually surface. With all of the recent Rose cards I've purchased lately, I now have 405 unique Pete Rose cards in my collection. In the mean time, I hope to start working on some of my vintage Bowman Reds sets. If I'm luck I should be able to complete one or two by the end of the year.

3 Coins in a Fountain

More oddball items to add to my collection. These three coins were made by Kahn's /Hillshire Farms but I'm not entirely sure if they were stadium promotions. Out of the three (Bench, Morgan, and Rose) I would say that Pete's my favorite. The Bench and Rose feel as though they're made from brass while the Morgan almost feels like a cheap imitation metal of some kind. Nevertheless, I'm glad they're part of my collection.
