Oh Snap!

I'm not much on keeping up with popular phrases. Considering that I'll be 40 this August, the need to appear cool was something that I concentrated on 25 years ago, not today. I still encounter people that think I'm crazy for collecting baseball cards at my age, but I could honestly care less about what they think. This is my hobby and I love it. Recently, I made another purchase for my Votto Rainbow project. The latest addition is this 2013 Topps Mini Pink numbered 10/25. There's only one slight problem. This is my very first graded card I have ever purchased. I'm not much on grading cards because I think it takes the fun out of the hobby. Having an independent third party determine just how pristine a card is seems a little sketch to me considering that I feel some of those factors they use are arbitrary. But I also know that it's suppose to be difficult to have a card grade a 10. Just for the heck of it I looked on PSA's website to see the report on this card. Apparently it's the only 2013 Topps Mini Pink Votto graded. My question for you is should I keep this card encased in plastic or snap him out of there? If I bust mini pink Votto free I just worry that I could damage him in some way. Let me know your thoughts.

I think I have only bought one graded card myself. How are you displaying your rainbow? If it is a binder than you may want to bust it.

Maybe hold off for a while to see if a non graded version pops up while you complete the other parallels. If not, Votto needs to break out of his gem mt prison.

If it wasn't a 10, I'd say take a Dremel and get it outta there. But people go nuts over 10's. I sold some silly 1980's Fleer Pete Rose insert for like 25 bucks. Find another one someday and sell this thing.

I think that is a good plan. Hopefully one shows up soon.

My plan is to use the Ultra Pro 9 card black screw downs to display the cards and then mount those on the wall similar to an Andy Warhol piece of art.

That would be ideal. This is the first one I've seen come up in over a year. Of course I'm still missing 10 cards for my rainbow so I have some time :)
