Stick a Fork In It!

This project is done! This past week I was able to purchase the last two 1991 Topps Desert Shield cards I needed for my Reds team set: Paul O'Neill and Eric Davis. I was a bit surprised how much Eric the Red set me back because he was just as much as the Barry Larkin cards I had purchased earlier. Not only that but I had only found a total of 3 Davis cards online. Talk about slim pickings. I'm glad I finally put this project to bed. Without further ado, here are the last two cards. If you're interested you can view the complete 1991 Topps Desert Shield Reds team set here.

Combing the Desert

One of the projects I've been working on this past year has been to complete the 1991 Topps Desert Shield Cincinnati Reds team set. I was recently able to purchase four more card: Tim Birtsas, Randy Myers, Hal Morris and Dan Wilson. I only have two more cards until this project is complete (Paul O'neill and Eric Davis). I should be able to wrap this set up hopefully within the next few months.

By the way, did I mention I was a huge Spaceballs fan?

Shield Your Eyes!

For the past few months I've been quietly working on another project I've always wanted to complete. Only now have I been able to scan the cards I have for this project to share with you. Back in 1991 I was enamored with the Desert Shield cards Topps sent to our troops stationed in the Persian Gulf and I had always wanted to pick up a set for myself. There were an estimated 6,500 to 7,000 of each card produced by Topps. Unfortunately, many star player cards such as Griffey, Clemens, McGwire, Ryan, and Chipper made this an Everest task that I just couldn't undertake because I wanted to use my funds for vintage Reds cards. I didn't completely abandon the project because if I couldn't afford the entire 792 card set I could chase the 30 Cincinnati Reds cards in the set. So far I've been able to purchase 24 of the 30 cards and I hope that I can complete this project in early 2016.
